Andrew Currie Lorne Infection and Immunity 2019

Andrew Currie

Andrew Currie is a basic scientist with experience in the fields of paediatric innate immunity and infectious disease, with a focus on neonatal sepsis since 2008. He currently leads the Neonatal Immunology Research Group in partnership with Neonatal Consultant, Dr Tobias Strunk. The group’s research combines current cellular and molecular ‘omics’ methodologies with primary human infant samples, and more recently large animal neonatal studies, to understand how the innate immune system contributes to defence against infection in early life. Andrew and Tobias are working actively with neonatal research groups internationally to trial and translate key research findings into cost-effective and safe innate immune therapies for preventing and limiting infection and inflammation in preterm infants.
